Viola da gamba Treble by William Turner

Since we are dealing with a luthier of the 17th C., then one should be very pleased to have four instruments by William Turner in the collection. The theoretician Thomas Mace, recommends (in 1676) that one should assemble a viola da gamba consort from instruments by the same maker, that are at least 100 years old.  The age, he admonishes, improves the quality of the sound of string instruments. We have taken his advice seriously!
